Roulette has been a highly appreciated and classic casino game even in its early days in France. The wheel that started it all was invented in the 1600s by the clever Blaise Pascal, a mathematician, physicist and inventor! The zero that we know so well now on the roulette wheel was invented in 1842 when Lois and Francois Blanc designed a similar roulette wheel that mimicked Pascal’s design with the added zero. As a country well-known for its royal family and casino action, it’s not surprising that the wheel was specifically designed for King Charles the Third of Monaco. Charles was building a casino in Monaco to try and remove the country from financial trouble so he brought in the roulette wheel.
